Sticky Mongolian Beef Everyone Loves

Tender sliced steak tossed in a rich, sweet-savory Mongolian sauce made with soy, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Quick, flavorful, and better than takeout.

Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 tbsp oil (avocado or canola)
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp fresh grated ginger
23 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Toss sliced beef with cornstarch and set aside.
  2. Mix soy sauce, water, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger in a bowl.
  3. Heat oil in skillet. Sear beef 1–2 min per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. Pour sauce into skillet. Simmer 2–3 min to thicken slightly.
  5. Return beef and stir to coat. Cook 1–2 min more.
  6. Add green onions and serve hot.

Notes

Slice beef thin and against the grain.
Add chili flakes for heat.
Serve over rice with steamed broccoli or veggies.
