For the Patties:
- 1 lb ground beef (85–90% lean)
- ⅓ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper
For the Gravy:
- 1 tbsp oil or butter
- 1 yellow onion, sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups beef broth (low-sodium)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Combine patty ingredients in a bowl. Mix and form into 4 oval patties.
- Sear patties in a hot skillet, 4–5 min per side. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté onions and mushrooms until soft. Sprinkle in flour and cook 1 minute.
- Whisk in broth and Worcestershire. Simmer until slightly thickened.
- Return patties to skillet, cover, and simmer 10–15 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes or noodles.
Notes
- Use ground turkey for a leaner version.
- Freeze leftovers in individual containers.
- Add fresh herbs or Dijon mustard for variation.
