Juicy beef patties simmered in rich onion-mushroom gravy. Classic comfort food made easy in one skillet.

Ingredients

For the Patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef (85–90% lean)
  • ⅓ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt & pepper

For the Gravy:

  • 1 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth (low-sodium)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine patty ingredients in a bowl. Mix and form into 4 oval patties.
  2. Sear patties in a hot skillet, 4–5 min per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté onions and mushrooms until soft. Sprinkle in flour and cook 1 minute.
  4. Whisk in broth and Worcestershire. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  5. Return patties to skillet, cover, and simmer 10–15 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or noodles.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey for a leaner version.
  • Freeze leftovers in individual containers.
  • Add fresh herbs or Dijon mustard for variation.
