Shepherd’s Pie Tater Tot Casserole combines the meaty, veggie-packed comfort of classic shepherd’s pie with a crispy, golden tater tot topping. Easy to make, family-friendly, and totally delicious.

Ingredients

  • lbs ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom or chicken soup
  • ¼ cup milk or beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. Brown meat with onion and garlic. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in veggies, soup, broth/milk, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spread in baking dish. Top with cheese, then tater tots.
  5. Bake 35–40 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  6. Cool 5–10 minutes. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Add taco seasoning and black beans for Cowboy version.
  • Use lean ground turkey for a lighter meal.
  • Great for meal prep or freezing ahead.
