This Salisbury steak recipe features juicy, seasoned beef patties simmered in a savory onion-mushroom gravy. It’s a comforting, one-pan meal that’s perfect over mashed potatoes or noodles.

For the Steak Patties:

  • lbs ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper
  • Optional: 1 tsp Dijon mustard

For the Gravy:

  • 1 tbsp oil + 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: 2 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Mix patty ingredients and form 4–6 oval steaks.
  2. Sear in oil and butter, 3–4 min per side. Set aside.
  3. Sauté onions and mushrooms. Add flour, stir, and slowly add broth and Worcestershire. Simmer.
  4. Return steaks to skillet. Simmer covered 10–12 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or noodles.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add cream to gravy.
  • Store leftovers in fridge up to 3 days or freeze.
