1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 (28–32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish.
In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion until fully cooked. Drain fat.
Stir in soup, milk, garlic powder, and half of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
Spread beef mixture into the baking dish. Top with remaining cheese.
Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.
Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until tots are golden and crispy.
Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley or green onions if desired.
Notes
Add frozen vegetables to the meat mixture for a complete meal.
For a spicier version, use pepper jack cheese or add taco seasoning.
