Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef (80/20)
¼ cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Dijon mustard or ketchup (optional)
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
2 tbsp finely minced onion
1 tbsp oil or butter
1 large onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (for gravy)
Chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire, mustard, onion, salt, and pepper. Form 4 patties.
  2. Sear patties in skillet 4–5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add butter and onions to skillet. Cook 6–8 minutes. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Slowly add broth, stirring constantly.
  5. Add Worcestershire. Simmer and return patties to pan.
  6. Cover and cook 10–12 minutes until patties are done and gravy thickens.
  7. Serve with gravy and garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

Use fresh onions for best flavor. Don’t overmix the meat. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.
