1 lb lean ground beef
1 tbsp olive oil or butter
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp ketchup (optional)
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
6 slices provolone cheese (or 1 cup shredded)
2 tbsp cream cheese or Cheese Whiz (optional)
4–6 soft sandwich buns
Instructions
Heat oil in skillet. Sauté onion and bell pepper for 5–6 minutes.
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.
Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain if needed.
Stir in broth, Worcestershire, ketchup, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
Stir in provolone and cream cheese until melted and creamy.
Toast buns and assemble with warm filling.
Notes
Use a slotted spoon to prevent soggy buns.
