Crispy Baked Ground Beef Tacos are filled with savory seasoned meat and melty cheese, then baked to golden perfection for an easy, crowd-pleasing dinner or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 23 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water or broth
  • 1012 hard taco shells
  • 11.5 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, sour cream, jalapeños, cilantro

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking dish with parchment.
  2. Brown ground beef with onion in a skillet. Drain fat.
  3. Add garlic, tomato paste, taco seasoning, and water. Simmer until thickened.
  4. Stand taco shells in baking dish. Fill with beef mixture and top with cheese.
  5. Bake 10–12 minutes until crispy and cheese is melted.
  6. Top with lettuce, tomato, and other desired toppings. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Make the beef filling ahead to save time.
  • Use lean meat or beans for a lighter version.
  • Keep shells upright by placing them snugly in the pan.
