300g flank steak, thinly sliced
¼ cup cornstarch
1 egg white (optional)
Neutral oil for frying
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp grated ginger
1 red chili, sliced (or ½ tsp chili flakes)
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp tomato paste or ketchup (optional)
Steamed jasmine or basmati rice
Spring onions & sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
Coat sliced beef with cornstarch and egg white. Let sit 10 minutes.
Heat oil and fry beef in batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
In a clean pan, sauté garlic, ginger, and chili. Add sauce ingredients and let bubble.
Add fried beef and toss to coat in sauce.
Serve over hot rice. Garnish with spring onions and sesame seeds.
