Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
2 large onions, thinly sliced
3 cups cooked white rice
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
½ cup beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp butter
1½ cups shredded Gruyère cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: parsley or crispy onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Caramelize onions in butter over medium-low heat for 25–30 mins.
  2. Brown ground beef, drain fat, and stir in garlic and Worcestershire.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  4. In a bowl, mix rice, onions, beef, soup, and broth.
  5. Spread in greased 9×13 dish. Top with cheese.
  6. Bake 25–30 mins until bubbly. Broil 2–3 mins for golden top.
  7. Rest 5 mins before serving.

Notes

Swap beef for turkey or plant-based meat. Add veggies like mushrooms. Use cream of onion or homemade sauce as substitute.
