Hearty and comforting Amish Hamburger Steak Bake made with juicy beef patties and rich brown gravy. Oven-baked to perfection and served with mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Ingredients

2 lbs ground beef
1 egg
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 packet onion soup mix (or 1/4 cup finely chopped onion)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 sliced onion (optional)
1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
2 cups beef broth
2 packets brown gravy mix
1 tbsp oil or butter (for browning)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Mix beef, egg, breadcrumbs, onion soup mix, Worcestershire, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form into 6–8 oval patties. Brown in skillet (optional).
  4. Place patties in dish. Add sliced onion and mushrooms.
  5. Whisk broth and gravy mix. Pour over patties.
  6. Cover with foil. Bake 45–55 min until cooked through.
  7. Rest 5 min. Serve with mashed potatoes or noodles.

Notes

Use turkey or pork for variation.
Add sour cream to gravy for creaminess.
Freezer-friendly and great for leftovers.
