Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (85–90% lean)
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp sesame oil
  • Optional: red pepper flakes or Sriracha
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil for cooking
  • Butter lettuce or romaine hearts (for wraps)
  • Toppings: shredded carrots, sliced cucumber, green onions, crushed peanuts, fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry lettuce leaves. Prep toppings and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat oil over medium. Sauté onion, garlic, and ginger for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add beef and cook until browned, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, hoisin, vinegar, sesame oil, and optional chili. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
  5. Spoon beef into lettuce leaves. Add toppings and serve with lime wedges.
